War games and simulations can be highly engaging and valuable. These exercises place the students in the role of military leaders and decision makers. My own research shows that students retain information better over the long-term when simulations makeup a key portion of instruction. Simulations develop skills and illuminate understanding like other teaching methods cannot.
Electoral Rules: Proportional Vs. Winner-Take-All
This simulation was used in my research to determine the effectiveness of long-term information retention comparing lessons with pure lectures versus a combination of lectures and simulations.
